OLEOCAMPO, Andalusian Cooperative Society, was founded on September 15th, 1995 and currently comprises the six olive oil mills: Santa Catalina, San Bartolomé, and La Unión in Torredelcampo; Consolación and Nueva Esperanza in Torredonjimeno; and San Francisco de Asís in Villardompardo, all in the province of Jaén. These mills have over fifty years of history producing extra virgin olive oil, which is then bottled and marketed at Oleocampo’s bottling plant.
The production centers that make up Oleocampo were formed by small and medium-sized groups of olive farmers. Until then, and for a time long ago, farmers milled their olives in private mills. The establishment of these cooperatives represents the first step in uniting the farmers’ efforts toward a common goal, achieving year after year an increase in the number of members and, consequently, in the volume of extra virgin olive oil produced.
Located in the Campiña Sur region of Jaén, among its olive groves, many of them centuries old, the highest quality oil is produced by its 3,839 members, cultivating 13,718 hectares of olive groves, the vast majority of which are dry cultivation and of the Picual variety.
